Aug 04, 2015  Windows 10 clean install will not activate I did a clean install of windows 10 on a brand new pc, no previous OS at all. I used my old pc's activation code.

I would like to let you know that from a qualifying version of Windows, the upgrade to Windows 10 is free. Here as you have installed Windows 10 using the ISO you will have to contact the Microsoft Store to buy the product key. Once you’ve upgraded to Windows 10 using the free upgrade offer, you will be able to reinstall, including a clean install, on the same device.

You won’t need a product key for re-activations on the same hardware. If you make a meaningful change to your hardware, you may need to contact customer support to help with activation. You’ll also be able to create your own installation media like a USB drive or DVD, and use that to upgrade your device or reinstall after you’ve upgraded. Keep us informed to help you further. I had windows 8.1 pro activated, updated to WIndows 10 pro via the simple upgrade method, this was also activated, I had some major problems with internet only working with Microsoft Edge, but not working with any other browser or FTP clients etc.

I then did a clean install of Windows 10 pro, by downloading the tool to allow you to create media using USB method. All the browsers/FTP clients now work, glad to see this issue was corrected, but now I can't believe I am stuck with this activation issue.
