Star Symbols Star Symbols Alt Codes Make a star symbol, for mostly use of social websites like facebook. Leo 2017-08-09 09:19:49 Notepad has a number of alt codes, but the Black Star is not one of them. However, it is available in Wordpad, but the technique is different. You enter the unicode hex number, then immediately follow that with alt-x.
So, you have to convert the decimal numbers given here into hex numbers by, for example, using the programmer mode of Windows calculator. In other words, to insert a Black Star, open Microsoft Wordpad, enter 2605, press and hold the alt key, press the x key, release both keys, then copy the Black Star and paste it where you want it. By the way, this also works in reverse. If you already have the Black Star in your clipboard, you can paste it into Wordpad, then hit alt-x and it will change to the hex code. I'm talking about Wordpad because it come free with Windows; you just have to find it.
Info for Laptop users without 10 Keypad. 2014-08-15 17:21:59 It's likely that if you're laptop doesn't have the ten keypad on the right side then you will see them as function keys. They are usually in a lighter color and smaller font on already occupied keys on the keyboard.
The way to access any of these function keys is holding FN ( located near the left Ctrl) or something similar. Hold down FN & Alt and type the function numbers. Test it out, it shouldn't type any of the numbers if you're doing it right. Hope this helps those with smaller laptops. Anonymous Jr. 2013-12-24 03:21:52 What windlegends?
That doesn't make sense. Just old down ALT, then enter number compination for what you want, then let go of alt, BOOM! Then you got what you want. Wherever your putting it, it appears blank while typing the # combos(while holding in 'ALT') but when you let go of 'alt' after done with # combo, BAAAAM, your symbol or whatever you want appears.
I tried windlegends thing and didn't work for me, plus seems way more complicated and dumb if it did. Trust me people.
Infinitech 2013-10-03 03:58:23 For everyone who comments about how this doesn't work before reading other comments to find out why it doesn't work. Please scroll down to Mike M.' S comment where he posted the solution. Here is his post: Mike M. Whoever put this page up is clueless for at least two reasons, three in some cases. This post will make it clear. (1) Nowhere is it mentioned that these particular codes will only work in HEX, not decimal.
So the numbers are misleading, because they're not the ones you need to type: the 9733 should really be 2605 and the 9734 should be 2606. Any time you see an Alt code that is in the 8000's or 9000's, you need the hex equivalent. You can use the Windows calculator to do the conversion; the result will almost always start with '2' like these two. Don't bother trying Alt-2605 just yet though because it won't work; keep reading. (2) Even if the correct hex codes were marked instead of the decimal equivalent, it would still be wrong, because you can only enter hex Alt codes by typing the PLUS sign in front of them, the one on the numeric keypad. As far as I see that little tidbit isn't indicated anywhere either. You hold down [Alt], then type the plus sign, then the rest.
So the correct codes are ( finally ): Alt +2605 -and- Alt +2606 NOW you can try it. For some of you it'll work; for others not. If you're in the first group, great, and you can stop reading. If it still didn't work ( and you're sure you're doing it right ), read the final point. (3) Your computer isn't set up to accept hex Alt codes. You can fix this with a simple one line registry patch.
If you don't know how to do this, ask someone who does. The patch is this: Go to. HKCU Control Panel Input Method and create a new string value called EnableHexNumpad and assign it the value 1 then of course reboot (or just Logoff/Login). My good deed for the day.
